The Los Angeles County Transportation Authority (L.A. Metro) logged rail ridership of 68.7 million boardings in 2024, marking the highest rail ridership since before the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020.

Overall ridership on light-rail and subway service grew 5.4% in 2024 over 2023, L.A. Metro officials said in a press release.

Contributing to the growth between 2023 and 2024 was the reconfiguration of the former L line into the A and E light-rail lines. Otherwise known as the Regional Connector, it marked completion of its first full year in operation in June 2024. The two lines posted a 33.4% ridership increase between December 2023 and December 2024.

Another contributing factor was the addition of of L.A. Metro’s Aviation/Century Station as a new transfer point between the C light-rail line and the K light-rail line, which provides service to Mariposa, El Segundo and Douglas, and Redondo Beach stations.
