When Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) opens Metro Gold Line this summer, passengers will be able to reserve parking spaces at the Sierra Madre Villa, Lake Avenue and Mission stations.



The program would guarantee Sierra Madre Villa Station daily park-and-ride passengers a space between 5:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. If one of the 250 reserved spaces is not filled, it will become available to anyone. Also, reserve-only parking will be available between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. for 100 spaces at Lake Avenue Church.



The authority recently awarded a contract to Clancy Systems International Inc. to provide Internet registration, permit fulfillment and telephone support for LA MTA passengers who want to reserve parking. Registration is expected to begin in mid-July and the parking program, Aug. 1.



Monthly parking permits will cost $39 for the first six months, then increase to $45 per month at the Sierra Villa and Lake Avenue stations. Mission Station permit fees will cost $29 per month the first six months, then increase to $36. Fees will be used to help LA MTA recover operating costs and fund additional parking capacity. The program is being piloted the first six months as part of the authority’s short-range transit plan.



The 13.7-mile Metro Gold Line will serve downtown Los Angeles, Lincoln Heights, Highland Park, Pasadena and South Pasadena.
