WMATA station on track for 2004 opening

advertisement

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) expects a late 2004 opening for its New York Avenue Station.

Primary station excavation, two-thirds of the foundation and final design is complete. Located on the Red Line between Union Station and Rhode Island Avenue, the station is the first WMATA facility to be built between two operating stations.

The facility is designed with two entrances, elevators, and enhanced signage and lighting.

The project is being funded by a partnership between the District of Columbia, federal government and a special assessment district or private land owners.
