Through 2006’s first eight months, ridership rose steadily for the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s (ConnDOT) Shore Line East and New Haven Line services.

As of Aug. 31, 23 million passengers had used New Haven Line trains, a 2.8 percent increase compared with the same 2005 period. MTA Metro North Railroad operates the line for ConnDOT.

Year-to-date ridership on the Shore Line East service, which is owned by ConnDOT and operated under a service agreement with Amtrak, totaled 304,122, a 10.8 percent increase compared with 2005’s first eight months.
