GO Transit recently announced plans to open the new Barrie South GO Station on Dec. 17.

The station is part of a $25 million project to extend GO Transit’s Bradford Line north to the city of Barrie, Ontario. The project, which began in February, included improvements to existing tracks, and upgrades to signals and crossings. The line will be renamed the Barrie Line.

The four morning and evening GO trains that currently operate between Union and Bradford stations also will serve Barrie South.
