The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) soon will begin accepting bids for new rolling stock.
The authority plans to purchase 38 new diesel electric passenger locomotives and 75 bi-level commuter-rail coaches. The locomotives will be fuel efficient and environmentally friendly, MBTA said.
