APTA, ARTBA to launch transportation investment ad campaign featuring Presidents Reagan, Clinton

The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and American Road & Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) plan to soon launch a television and radio advertising campaign featuring clips of Presidents Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton, who both supported transportation investment as a way to create jobs and stimulate the economy.

The campaign’s purpose is to “elevate” transportation investment into the ongoing congressional debate over the federal budget and spending, APTA and ARTBA officials said in a prepared statement. They called on Congress to pass a “well-funded” multi-year surface transportation bill this year.

“Presidents Reagan and Clinton remind us that transportation is a bipartisan issue,” said APTA President William Millar. “We urge Congress and the administration to set aside their differences and work together to pass a well-funded, multi-year, multi-modal bill that will create jobs and build our economy.”
