APTA solicits comments on standards documents

The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Standards Program has released several documents for public review and comment.

APTA is seeking feedback from all industry stakeholders to help shape the language found in these documents. The comment period is an essential component of APTA's consensus-based standards development process, association officials said in a news release.

The association invites all passenger rail and rail executive-level administrators, operators, transit security professionals, planners and others to provide their criticisms, comments or recommendations.

The current set of documents address the following topics: door systems for new and rebuilt passenger cars; transit agency emergency management programs; random counter-terrorism measures on transit systems; control and communications systems security in transit-rail environments; and climate action planning guidelines.

Documents can be viewed and comments can be submitted by Oct. 1 on the Standards Public Comment page.
