APTA survey: Americans support public transportation
advertisement
A recent nationwide poll shows Americans support public transportation and the use of government funds to expand and improve public transit.
Eighty-one percent believe public transportation strengthens the economy, creates jobs, reduces traffic congestion and air pollution, and saves energy, according to a prepared statement.
Commissioned by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and conducted by Wirthlin Worldwide in February, the study also showed many people believe their community needs more public transit options, and would be more likely to support a congressional candidate who favors improving those options.
Wirthlin Worldwide polled 1,000 adults living in the United States.
