American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) Feb. 5 announced it plans to hold two seminars in April — one hosted by Chicago’s Metra commuter rail; the other, at Amtrak’s maintenance facility in San Diego.

April 11 and 12, AREMA plans to hold a Track Safety Standards seminar at Metra’s maintenance-of-way training facility in Blue Island, Ill. Attendees would be versed in the recent revision to FRA 213 - Track Safety Standards by the individuals who wrote the program. The seminar’s geared toward track inspectors, supervisors, engineering staff, and railroad contractors and consultants. Registration for AREMA members is $300; nonmembers, $375.

Then, from April 18 to 20, AREMA plans to present "An Engineer’s Perspective to Commuter Rail New Starts and Expansions" in San Diego. The seminar would include two days of instruction and a tour of Amtrak’s maintenance facilities tour in Oceanside, Calif. AREMA members’ registration is $450; nonmembers, $595.

For registration forms or complete seminar agendas, please contact AREMA at (301) 459-3200, or visit the association’s Web site, www.arema.org.
