ARTBA-TDF report highlights economic impact of transportation investment

The American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA-TDF) has published a report, titled “U.S. Transportation Construction Industry Profile,” that examines the impact of transportation investment on the nation and each of the 50 states.
"As partisan bickering and posturing continues on Capitol Hill, the failure to pass overdue legislation that provides multi-year federal aid to state highway and transit programs jeopardizes 354,590 jobs in California," ARTBA-TDF officials said in a prepared statement.
The association made similar statements about each state's potential job impact if Congress doesn’t pass a long-term surface transportation-funding bill this year. For example, stalled legislation jeopardizes 286,449 jobs in New York, 276,228 in Texas, 196,087 in Florida and 129,014 in Illinois, the association said.
"The uncertainty of future funding levels is causing state transportation departments to slow down or delay projects, and in turn, impacting hiring decisions and equipment purchases by transportation and design firms," association officials said.
The association's report can be accessed at www.transportationconstructionjobs.org.
