All Aboard Florida (AAF) was selected as one of 13 international winners of Fast Company's fourth annual "Innovation By Design Awards."The competition honors companies for "innovative and disruptive" design solutions, AAF officials said in a press release.The railroad's plan to provide privately-funded passenger-rail service is representative of "a new wave of civic innovation," according to Fast Company."All Aboard Florida’s high-speed intercity rail service will transform the way visitors and residents travel throughout the state and create vibrant new mobility-centric living, work and entertainment spaces around Florida," said AAF President Mike Reininger. Fast Company judges selected the railroad from 1,500 international submissions, which marked the largest number of entries in history, according to AAF.Expected to begin service in 2017, AAF trains will provide a three-hour trip between Miami to Orlando, with stops in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, Fla.
