Amtrak, MDOT break ground on Pontiac intermodal station

advertisement

On Friday, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), Amtrak and Greyhound broke ground on the Pontiac Transportation Center, which will serve intercity rail and bus passengers.

Funded by $1.4 million from the state’s Comprehensive Transportation Fund account, the facility will serve as a hub for six daily Amtrak Wolverine Service trains moving to and from Detroit and Chicago.

The station will replace the former Pontiac Transpo Center, which was demolished in 2008. The project is expected to be completed in summer 2011.
