Amtrak and NC By Train are restoring the third daily Piedmont roundtrip for service between Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina, on April 5.
The third roundtrip will bring the Piedmont back to its full regularly scheduled service level to meet an anticipated increase in demand for passenger-rail service and provide additional capacity, Amtrak officials said in a news release.
The Piedmont also provides service to Cary, Durham, Burlington, Greensboro, High Point, Salisbury and Kannapolis.
The Piedmont and Carolinian trains are sponsored by the North Carolina Department of Transportation and operated by Amtrak. The service is paid for through state funding and passenger fares.
