Amtrak to add quiet car for Keystone Service
advertisement
Responding to customer demand, Amtrak plans to add a "quiet car" to the Keystone Service's Harrisburg-Philadelphia-New York City route starting on Jan. 24.
The car next to the locomotive typically will be designated as the quiet car, which requires passengers to speak quietly and turn off sounds on electronic devices, such as cell phones and computers.
Amtrak established its first quiet car in 1999 on the Northeast Corridor between Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Today, quiet cars are available on the Acela Express and Northeast Regional service between Washington, D.C., and Boston, and on the Hiawatha service between Chicago and Milwaukee.
