After several delays, the Atlanta Streetcar is scheduled to launch service Dec. 30, Atlanta news media reported this week.The long-awaited opening of the $98 million streetcar system will beat by one day a opening deadline set by Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed. The system had experienced a number of delays in opening service to passengers. Originally, the line was slated to open in May 2013.The service will follow a 2.7-mile loop around downtown Atlanta. Riders will be able to use the service at no charge for the next three months, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported.
