The City of Atlanta, Department of Aviation July 17 awarded Bombardier Transportation a $34 million contract to supply 24 CX-100 automated airport people movers and associated equipment for Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport to replace aging C-100 cars.
The original system was installed in 1980 with a 17-car fleet serving 12 stations. With six expansions since 1983, 49 vehicles currently serve 14 stations.
Bombardier plans to execute production, systems integration and testing at its Pittsburgh facility. Delivery is slated to begin in August and conclude before year’s end.
