Austin Transit seeks input on light-rail project's first phase

The Austin Transit Partnership (ATP) has released a request for information (RFI) for industry feedback on the first phase of the design and construction contract for the multibillion-dollar project to build a light-rail system in the Texas city.
It's anticipated the contract will be awarded next year, ATP officials said in a press release.
Designed to expand as the city grows, the light-rail service will feature 15 stations along nearly 10 miles, electric trains running every five to 10 minutes most of the day, pedestrian and cycling paths and a bridge over Lady Bird Lake. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027.
The project's largest procurement will seek partners to design and construct the transitway, tracks, systems, stations, bridges, traffic signals, utilities, drainage structures and streetscape. The contract will extend through the duration of the design, construction and opening of service in 2033.
Organizations can provide feedback to the ATP through the vendor portal here, through March 19.
