BART completes environmental report for Livermore extension
advertisement
Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) recently completed a final environmental impact report (EIR) for a long-planned extension between the Dublin/Pleasanton Station and city of Livermore, Calif. The report addresses public comments on environmental issues and incorporates a previously issued draft EIR.
BART’s board will consider certifying the final EIR and hear public comments on the report at its July 1 meeting.
The extension would alleviate congestion on Interstate 580, especially during heavy commute hours; provide intermodal connections to Altamont Commuter Express’ regional rail system that links Stockton with San Jose through the Tri-Valley area and east side of San Francisco Bay; and improve air quality by reducing greenhouse-gas and other emissions, according to BART.
