Rail News: Passenger Rail
San Francisco’s Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) recently released its final fiscal-year 2006 Short Range Transit Plan and Capital Improvement Program.
BART uses the plan, which is required by the Federal Transit Administration and Metropolitan Transportation Commission, as a management and financial planning tool to analyze operating and capital funding needs, priorities and strategies through FY2015.
The document includes information on current and projected ridership, service and operating performance, 10-year operating and capital financial forecasts and a renovation program. The plan also features an update on BART’s earthquake safety program, and a station-by-station overview of planning, development, access, reinvestment and capacity projects.
