advertisement
Bay Area Rapid Transit Aug. 8 signed a five-year, $15 million contract with Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. subsidiary Sverdrup Civil Inc. for on-call engineering services, as well as a two-year extension to an existing on-call engineering contract that began in 1997.
Under the new contract, Sverdrup will double traction power capacity at Ashby, Berkeley and North Berkeley stations. And, in accordance with the extension, the company will provide general engineering services to improve the function, efficiency and aesthetics of BART facilities.
Sverdrup designed many of BART’s stations built 30 years ago, and more recently has been upgrading them to meet American Disability Act standards.
