BART to enhance network communications
advertisement
Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) soon will have a new station-to-station communications network for the agency’s train-control system.
The agency awarded a $600,000 contract to Network Equipment Technologies Inc. to install a 28-station network over the next 18 months. The Promina system is designed to provide real-time communications over BART’s fiber-optic link. The program would use dual processors and power supplies, and provide remote monitoring communications, according to a prepared statement.
The system would enable the agency to operate more efficiently and cut down passenger down time.
