BART to implement regional smart-card program
advertisement
Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) recently approved plans to implement TransLink, a regional smart-card program.
TransLink is designed as a single, universal fare card for BART passengers. The agency reached an agreement with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission to ensure that BART passengers who use TransLink will continue to access existing ticket services and options.
Part of a pilot program that began in January 2002, TransLink acts as a debit card, enabling passengers to add value to TransLink cards from ticket vending machines in BART stations.
