BART to provide free tickets to military personnel on leave
advertisement
Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) has come up with a way to honor military personnel who are serving their country in Iraq and Afghanistan: a free ticket. Yesterday, the agency announced it’s implementing a one-year pilot program through which it will provide a free $50 ticket to eligible active-duty military personnel who are on leave in the Bay Area from Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom.
BART has allocated $50,000 for the program — the first of its kind for a U.S. transportation agency, according to BART. Personnel with a valid leave order from their respective military branch are eligible for free tickets.
