Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) plans to use a $350,000 federal grant to develop a strategy for attracting businesses that create jobs near its transit system.
A transit-oriented development planning grant from the Federal Transit Administration will focus on jobs along the agency's line running from Fruitvale to Warm Springs/South Fremont, known as the A Line, BART officials said in a press release.
BART District 6 Director Liz Ames, whose district includes several A Line stations, supports jobs attraction and smart development around the system.
“There’s so much opportunity with the re-balancing and reimagining of our town centers,” she said. “It’s not just about providing housing for people who have jobs elsewhere."
