BART, two unions reach tentative contract agreement

advertisement

Bay Area Rapid Transit officials — and its passengers — seem to have narrowly escaped a transit strike by Amalgamated Transit Union (AMU) Local 1555 and Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 790.

BART, AMU and SEIU Sept. 3 reached a tentative agreement on the structure of a new contract. The agency and its unions agreed not to release details of the agreement’s framework until the unions’ memberships had an opportunity to review and vote on the terms. ATU represents 800 train operators and station agents, and SEIU, more than 1,700 maintenance, clerical and professional personnel.
