Bombardier inks Hungarian State Railways refurbishment contract

The Hungarian State Railways Oct. 29 awarded Bombardier Transportation a $37 million contract to refurbish 136 suburban passenger railway coaches.
Work includes equipping the coaches with air/heating systems, automatic sliding doors, glass-fiber reinforced plastic interior coverings, individual seats with textile upholstery, luggage racks with glass panes and fluorescent lamps.
Bombardier plans to refurbish the cars in its Dunakeszi, Hungary, facility. Deliveries are scheduled to take place between July 2002 and July 2003.
