Deutsch Bahn, the German Railways, recently inked a $88.5 million contract with Bombardier Transportation to supply 65 double-deck passenger coaches for use in Berlin-Brandenburg and in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania.



The order calls for 54 trailer cars and 11 driving cars, designed to operate at a maximum speed of 99.4 mph, and include screens for passenger information and entertainment. First- and second-class compartments also would feature vending machines for snacks and beverages.



The cars are slated for delivery between November 2003 and April 2004.
