Transports Publics Genevois (TPG), the Geneva transport authority, recently awarded Bombardier Transportation a $56.6 million contract for 21 low-floor Cityrunner trams, with an option for 17 additional vehicles.

The 138-foot-long, 7.5-foot-wide trams can transport 72 seated passengers and 171 standees. Cityrunner trams also feature on-board video surveillance and can be operated bi-directionally.

Bombardier expects to deliver the vehicles between mid-2004 and mid-2005.
