Bombardier Transportation Sept. 24 announced it's recently received $147 million worth of orders to supply 10 two-car Regina trainsets in Sweden, modernize Eurotunnel locomotives in the United Kingdom and provide overhaul services for Shanghai metro cars in China.

Bombardier plans to begin delivering Swedish company Transitio's 10 two-car Regina-type electric multiple units (bringing to 139 the number of cars on order with Bombardier) by year end.

Meanwhile, Bombardier and British rolling-stock manufacturer Brush Traction recently were commissioned by operator Eurotunnel to modernize 37 locomotives (with an option to upgrade another 14 units) between February 2003 and April 2009. The work would prolong the locomotives' lives about 30 years and increase their power, according to a prepared statement.

Finally, Bombardier was awarded a 10-year contract by China's Shanghai Metro Operation Corp. (SMOC) to overhaul 96 metro cars.

The company would provide technical support and material for the overhauls, which would take place in SMOC's Shanghai workshop. Deliveries of the refurbished vehicles would commence in 2002 and end in 2005.
