Bombardier Transportation Inc. July 17 opened a Chicago office to pursue opportunities for rail projects in the area.
"We are establishing a presence in Chicago to support rail projects in the entire region," said William Spurr, president, North America, in a prepared statement. "The coming investment in the ‘L’, in Metra and Northern Indiana, and in intercity rail in this region certainly supports this strategic move by the company."
Peter Stetler was named vice president, government relations to pursue these market opportunities.
Montreal-based Bombardier has manufacturing facilities in Auburn and Plattsburgh, N.Y.; Barre, Vt.; Pittsburgh, Pa.; and Pittsburg, Calif. The company also operates maintenance facilities in Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., New York, Los Angeles and Toronto.
