advertisement
Bombardier Transportation was recently awarded a $526 million contract to design and supply vehicles for a rapid transit startup in Taiwan.
Under terms of the contract, awarded by Taiwanese construction company Kung Sing Engineering Corp., Bombardier would supply 202 vehicles and electrical and mechanical systems for the 9.3-mile Neihu Line, which would be an extension to the Mucha Line in Taipei. Bombardier also would retrofit the automatic train control system for the Mucha Line, 102 vehicles and other equipment.
The line’s first phase is scheduled to be complete in summer 2007, with two remaining stages to be completed in late fall 2007 and early spring 2008. The notice to proceed on the project is expected within the next two months.
