Brightline announced the beginning of construction on the new Brightline/Downtown Library Parking Garage to serve the future station in Boca Raton, Florida.

The four-and-a-half-story parking garage — which will feature 455 parking spaces — will serve both the future rail station and nearby downtown library. Contractor Kaufman Lynn has begun initial work at the site, which is expected to conclude in fourth-quarter 2022.

Brightline expects to sign a contract for the construction of the new Boca Raton station by the end of 2021, with work commencing in early 2022.

Brightline earlier this year completed the new community garden for the Junior League of Boca Raton and a temporary parking lot for the library as part of the agreement to build a new station.

“The construction of [the] Boca Raton station parking garage is an integral step in bringing the station closer to the launch of service,” said Brightline Vice President of Development Brian Kronberg in a press release. “The community has shown great enthusiasm and support for this station.”
