The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority’s (VTA) board recently renewed General Manager Michael Burns’ contract for another five years. He has served as GM since 2005.
“Michael has proven to be an innovative leader during the economic downturn,” said VTA Chairman Sam Liccardo in a prepared statement.
Burns manages VTA’s 2,000 employees and oversees the operating budget, which totals $353 million in fiscal-year 2010 and $360 million in FY2011. The agency provides light-rail, bus and paratransit services.
