CTA Chairman Jarrett resigns

Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Chairman Valerie Jarrett recently announced she is stepping down after serving the board for seven years.
The first woman to chair the agency, Jarrett was appointed to the board by Mayor Richard Daley in September 1995. Under her leadership, CTA has become more a more financially stable, customer-focused agency that’s increased ridership the past five years, according to a prepared statement.
With a new budget session and federal-funding cycle about to begin, the time is right for CTA to transition to a new chairman, Jarrett said.
