CTA completes Howard Station rehab
advertisement
Last week, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) opened a newly renovated Howard Red Line auxiliary station entrance, marking the completion of the Red Line Howard rehabilitation project.
The project included renovations to the station house and platform areas, and the installation of elevators, escalators, brighter lighting, benches, wind breaks, canopies and bike racks. The project also called for rehabilitating the existing Howard Street viaduct and retail space on the north side of Howard Street.
Last June, CTA opened a new station house that links the station platforms with the parking garage and bus terminal on the station's west side.
Howard Station serves as a transfer point between CTA's Red, Yellow and Purple lines.
