CTA schedules more public meetings on Red, Purple line improvements

The Chicago Transit Authority is holding another round of public hearings this week as it prepares to apply for federal funding to modernize the Red and Purple lines.

The meetings, to be held today, tomorrow and Thursday, will provide riders with an opportunity to review and comment on several plans for infrastructure improvements based on input from the first round of meetings held in late 2009.

The public's input will be used to help identify the environmental studies to be considered in the Tier 1 Draft Environmental Impact Statement, one of the steps necessary to apply for federal funding.

The Tier 1 Draft EIS will identify and analyze the plan for potential corridor-wide improvements that could be implemented as part of the project.
