Rail News: Passenger Rail
This week, Chicago Transit Authority launched a pilot program at eight rail stations designed to help speed up passenger boarding times.
The authority dedicated one turnstile at the stations for passengers using Chicago Card electronic fare passes. The "Go Lanes" were implemented at stations that handle a high volume of passengers.
CTA workers will monitor the Go Lanes during morning and evening rush hours to measure boarding times, as well as the ratio of customers using electronic fare media compared with cash or transit cards.
