CTA to add security cameras at stations
advertisement
Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) officials recently announced that by May 31, one or more security cameras will be installed at each of the agency’s 144 rail stations.
CTA has received $22.6 million in U.S. Department of Homeland Security funds since 2006 to enhance its security and surveillance network. A portion of those funds will be used to install the cameras, CTA officials said in a prepared statement.
After each station features at least one camera, additional cameras will be installed across the system by fall. All stations will have multiple cameras by year's end, CTA officials said.
