The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) has made strides with the $88 million Blue Line Dearborn Subway project and expects to complete all work by year’s end.
Funded by American Recovery and Reinvestment Act dollars, the project calls for replacing about seven miles of track from Division Station on the O’Hare branch to Clinton Station on the Forest Park branch.
The first two phases have been completed and more than 20,000 feet of track has been replaced. The final phase will begin this week and focus on renewing 19,000 feet of track by December.
So far, CTA has received a total of $241 million in stimulus funds.
