Calgary lets LRT construction contract

The city of Calgary, Alberta, April 3 awarded Earth Tech, a business unit of Tyco International Ltd., a contract for second-phase design of the south extension of the city’s light-rail transit system.
The 1.8-mile second phase is slated to start at Fish Creek-Lacombe Station and end near the city’s southern border. Earth Tech’s contract covers design and construction of earthwork grading, utilities, trackwork, grade crossings, fencing and miscellaneous structures.
The trackwork portion of the project is valued at more than $6 million. Construction is scheduled to begin in June and conclude in June 2004.
