The California Transportation Commission recently approved a plan to award $380 million in new transportation funding to 134 projects throughout the state. The allocation is the commission’s first for fiscal year 2006-2007.

The awards include $26.5 million to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority to purchase 50 light-rail vehicles; $11 million to Bay Area Rapid Transit to extend service from Fremont to downtown San Jose; and $9 million to San Francisco Municipal Railway to extend the Third Street light-rail line to Chinatown.
