California commission awards $35.3 million for L.A. Expo Line's second phase

The California Transportation Commission has awarded $35.3 million for Phase II of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (LACMTA) Expo Line light-rail project, which calls for building a 6.7-mile line between Culver City, Los Angeles and Santa Monica.
The line is being built by the Expo Construction Authority but will be funded, owned and operated by LACMTA. The last station under the first phase is slated for completion next year.
The money comes from Proposition 1B bonds approved by California voters in 2006 to help pay for state transportation needs.
