Rail News: Passenger Rail

Caltrain orders six locomotives

California commuter railroad Caltrain late last month awarded MotivePower Inc. a $14 million contract to build six 3,600-horsepower locomotives that includes an option to purchase six additional units within 12 months.

The company plans to manufacture the units at its Boise, Idaho, facility; delivery is scheduled for 2003.
