advertisement
For the third year in a row, Caltrain has posted record ridership and revenue.
Between July 1, 2007, and June 30, 2008, the commuter-rail agency carried 11.96 million passengers, an 8.6 percent increase compared with FY2007. Since introducing Baby Bullet service in 2004, Caltrain has increased ridership by nearly 4 million riders, or about 48 percent.
The agency also generated $40.1 million in ticket sales, a 15.1 percent jump compared with FY2007's total. However, the record revenue was offset by increased diesel prices, which skyrocketed 66 percent since the beginning of the fiscal year.
