Caltrain releases draft short-range plan
advertisement
Caltrain is seeking pubic comments on its annual Short Range Transit Plan (SRTP) update. The plan, which covers fiscal years 2010 through 2018, includes a 10-year operating and capital plan, and financial projections used to qualify for state and federal funds.
The plan reviews Caltrain’s ongoing safety program, state-of-good-repair program and efforts to maximize ridership. Long-term needs focus on the Peninsula Rail Program (the agency’s partnership with the California High Speed Rail Authority), and plans to modernize and electrify the system.
The SRTP also cites Caltrain’s challenges, including the agency’s structural deficit and capital program shortfall.
The plan is updated annually to meet the Metropolitan Transportation Commission’s regulatory requirements to program federal funds. The final SRTP will be presented to the board at its Dec. 3 meeting.
