Caltrain tonight will host a community meeting to discuss the impact of continued electrification work in Burlingame, California. Construction of overhead contact system foundations and poles is set to continue along Caltrain right-of-way in Burlingame through August, Caltrain officials said in a press release.Caltrain is electrifying its corridor from the San Francisco Station at 4th and King streets to the Tamien Station in San Jose, California. As part of the project, the railroad is replacing its diesel-hauled trains with electric multiple unit trains. The project is aimed at improving Caltrain system performance, enabling more frequent and faster train service and reducing noise and greenhouse gas emissions.Electrified service is slated to begin in 2022.
