Rail News: Passenger Rail
This week, Caltrain is launching "Railroad Watch," a new safety awareness campaign.
The California commuter-rail agency is sending brochures to 10,000 residents who live near tracks in Burlingame, Redwood City, Mountain View and Santa Clara, requesting that they call Caltrain police if they see dangerous or suspicious activity along tracks.
The brochures — which show a young boy wearing headphones and walking on the rail, sport the headline "Your call can save a life" — include a magnet with a telephone number for transit police dispatchers. Caltrain also is placing the brochures on trains.
