Rail News: Passenger Rail
Next week, Caltrain will kick off a $20.5 million project designed to improve safety and accessibility, and add track capacity at Burlingame Station.
The one-year project calls for building a pedestrian plaza, widening sidewalks, constructing custom shelters and adding new fencing. Caltrain also will replace the current center-boarding platform with outside boarding platforms on either side of the tracks so two trains can serve the station, and install a fence between the tracks. The station’s current configuration allows only one train to serve the station at a time, which can cause delays.
