Rail News: Passenger Rail
On March 27, Caltrain will begin reconstructing a bridge that crosses Redwood Creek in Redwood City, Calif.
Construction will be completed in two phases; the contractor first will strengthen the structure that supports the bridge, then replace the deck. The entire project is scheduled to be complete by June 12.
The Redwood Creek bridge reconstruction is one of several upgrades to Caltrain’s bridges, many of which were built in 1906.
More information on Caltrain’s 2006 maintenance-of-way plans will be available in Progressive Railroading’s April issue.
